Khichri
Ingredients
- 225ml Moong Dal (washed)
- 225ml Rice
- 625ml Water
- 1 medium Onion (chopped)
- 2 pods Garlic (chopped)
- 15mm piece Cinnamon
- 2 Cloves
- 2 Cardomons (large)
- ½ teaspoon Cumin Seeds
- 2 tablespoons Ghee or Butter
- Salt to taste
Method
- Heat ghee or butter and add cumin seeds, cinnamon, cloves and cardomons.
- Add chopped onion and garlic and fry these until light brown in colour.
- Add all other ingredients and stir well.
- Bring to the boil and cook in a covered pan on a low heat until all the water is absorbed and rice grains are well cooked.
- Serve it hot with yoghurt.
